Note to self: metahuman ability is okay to be used for doing dishes and making dinner, but not for quickies or I may find myself on the rude end of another bitchslap.

#26 - Blanket

Barry was feeling the exhaustion right down into his bones. Lying on his stomach on Felicity’s bed, his Flash suit strewn haphazardly on the floor nearby. He could hear her in the bathroom, but he was barely awake.

She came to bed just as his eyes were closing, and tenderly pulled the blanket up over him. She was quiet and gentle crawling in beside him, careful not wake him when she tucked the edges in around him. The last thing he was aware of before sleep fully claimed him was a soft kiss to his forehead.

Finally, he could relax.

#13 - Queasy

Nightmares weren’t foreign to Barry. What was foreign was dreaming that the woman he loved was being tortured and murdered by the person who had killed his mom and very likely wanted him dead too. The nightmare was so vivid, like he had been right there watching it and he woke abruptly, heart pounding, breathing shallow.

He sat up in bed, blanket pooling around his waist. Sweat was dripping down his temple, and he wiped a hand over his face, feeling queasy and woozy. Lines were so blurred right now; what if this was a memory of an alternate reality?

#32 - Snuggle

The first time Barry surprised Felicity for an impromptu snuggle when they first started dating, he was second-guessing his choice, wondering if she would think he was a creeper. When she woke, he was lying on the bed beside her dressed in a cow onesie to match her PJs with a bunch of pink roses.

“Uh, is this okay…?” he asked sheepishly when she definitely got a fright waking up to a surprise bed warmer.

She broke into a goofy giggle with an inelegant but adorable snort. “More than,” she confirmed, paving the way for many more surprise Flash visits.

"I wish my brain had a map to tell me where my heart should go…" - Unknown

Barry wanted to smack himself when he woke up feeling all too comfortable naked and spooned up behind Felicity in her bed. His arm was wrapped protectively around her slender waist, and her favourite perfume that he loved made him feel like he never wanted to move from this position. That didn't stop the cold-hard reality hitting him, closely followed by being drowned in guilt about what they had just done.

He managed to stifle a groan, but he didn't make any immediate attempt to move... )

"When did the rain become a storm?
When did the clouds begin to form?
Yeah, we got knocked off course by a natural force
And we'll, we'll be swimming when it's gone."

• Beautiful Goodbye, Maroon 5

Today, the treadmill was doing nothing to relieve Barry’s stress and frustration. The worst part was, he knew it was all his own making. After deciding mutually Felicity that they were “perfectly perfect” for each other but it wasn’t meant to be because their hearts were still tethered elsewhere, it turned out it was a temptation too strong to resist. For Barry, it was like, once the notion that they could be a perfect match was planted in his mind, he couldn’t ignore it… and he hadn’t been able to stop thinking about her.

So, he took the plunge and they started dating on the hush. Mostly on the hush. He was pretty sure Caitlin and Cisco suspected, but they hadn’t pried. Prying would have been tempting, but also very low down on the priority list with everything else going on. And it had worked. It really had. His speed meant he could pop over to see her whenever he felt like it, and their dating life was probably more sound than many couples who lived under the same roof. The metahuman thing definitely had perks.

Then all of a sudden, things just got really crazy and Barry was feeling like he couldn’t keep up... )

#09 - Bed

Barry was discovering yet another perk of being the Fastest Man Alive. The morning after a super hot date the night before, you could make a romantic breakfast in a flash. Collectively, he was absent from Felicity’s bed all of two minutes, now he was proudly carrying through waffles, juice, coffee, strawberries, and a single red rose, proud grin in place… which was all he was wearing.

He set the tray on her dresser where it could wait for a few moments longer. Instead of serving it up, he slipped back under the covers with her for a morning ‘snuggle’.

"Friends can help each other. A true friend is someone who lets you have total freedom to be yourself - and especially to feel. Or, not feel. Whatever you happen to be feeling at the moment is fine with them. That's what real love amounts to - letting a person be what he really is." - Jim Morrison

Felicity's first trip to Central City had been when Barry had his wake-up call. It was just a wake-up call that confused him because he had been stuck so hard and fast in the comfort zone he had built up around him over the years, that he actually convinced himself that their instant attraction and connection was just because they were so alike.

The Iris Factor, that he had come to think of the whole thing in his head, was the biggest roadblock. He thought he was still very much in unrequited love with Iris that when he had come out of his coma, he was stuck on it like a scratch CD. He kept skipping over and over that old scar, back-tracking because it was familiar and it was easy. But he didn't really want familiar and easy. What he wanted was someone who got him, someone he could laugh with, and someone he didn't have to hide with.

And that was Felicity... )
